Meet The Owner
Matt has been in the flooring trade for over 34 years, beginning his career as an apprentice on the Northern Sonoma Coast of California. In 2004, he became a licensed contractor in the state of California and established his base in Santa Rosa, where he continues to take pride in serving homeowners today.
He is certified through the Armstrong School of Flooring in the application of commercial and residential linoleum, including coving procedures and seam welding. Matt also carries qualifications in the use of Bona products for hardwood flooring, ensuring proper application and long-lasting results.
Over the years, he has expanded his service areas beyond Northern California to include Lake Tahoe, Nevada, and Boise, Idaho, bringing the same level of experience and craftsmanship to every project.

A Commitment to Our Environment
Matt Vargas Custom Flooring takes a thoughtful approach to every project, with a focus on reducing environmental impact while delivering floors that are built to last. Whenever possible, natural products and environmentally conscious methods are used, including low to zero VOC finishes and adhesives that help limit unnecessary chemical exposure during installation and refinishing.
This approach supports homeowners who are mindful of indoor air quality, as well as those with sensitivities to certain materials. By choosing safer products and applying them with care, each project is completed with both performance and long-term livability in mind.
From start to finish, the goal is simple, create flooring that not only looks right and lasts, but is also better for the home and the environment it’s part of.

Experience Beyond Big Box.
There’s a difference between buying flooring off the shelf and working with someone who’s been in the trade for decades.
At big box stores, you’re usually picking from limited options, dealing with third-party installers, and hoping everything lines up. Here, the process is more direct. You’re working with someone who understands the materials, the environment they’re going into, and what it takes to make them last.
Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, each project is handled based on the space, the conditions, and how the floor will actually be used. That means better preparation, better decisions up front, and fewer problems down the line.
The goal isn’t just to get the job done, it’s to get it done right.
